What is Cognitive Impairment?
Cognitive impairment occurs when perhaps your thinking ability, memory and cognition are reduced from the level they were at previously, but you are managing to live your life without much difficulty.
Cognitive impairment can be caused by drugs, illness or can be a precursor for Dementia - therefore having regular review of your cognition is important.
What is Dementia?
Dementia is an umbrella term for a number of diseases that cause symptoms such as poor memory, disorientation, difficulty in problem solving or language.
There are over 100 diseases that cause dementia but the commonest in Australia is Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia due to strokes (Vascular Dementia).
